Our firm was founded by legendary Chicago trial lawyer Jay A. Canel in 1985. Peter King brought his experience as a CPA and trial attorney to the firm in 1986. Bill Jones joined the firm in 1991, fresh from completing his clerkship with the Illinois Supreme Court. Mr. Canel retired in 1999, leaving King and Jones to carry on the Firm’s tradition of providing the best business litigation and trial advocacy in Chicago and throughout the United States.
For the past 30 years, King and Jones has delivered on their promise to provide successful, cost-effective business litigation and trial services to corporations and entrepreneurs in Chicago, and across the U.S.
Due to the national scope of our practice and when the circumstances have called for it, we have associated with top flight co-counsel all across America. Some of the lawyers and firms we have associated with over the years include:
“I am a Florida Attorney and have had the privilege of litigating with Peter King both as an opposing party and as co-counsel. Peter is one of the finest civil litigators I have encountered in 40 years of practicing law. His preparation is meticulous, and his courtroom presentation is articulate, persuasive, and effective. Peter always protects his client’s best interest by weighing risk, benefit, and the ever-increasing costs and expense of civil litigation. If I ever need personal legal representation Peter would be my first choice.” – Bryce Ackerman
“After 2 life experiences with major legal malpractice, the nicest thing happened, when I contacted your firm. I got excellent advice from a brilliant caring lawyer. My faith in lawyers has been renewed, thanks to Peter King. His free advice has solved my problem, with an immediate response to my online inquiry. Hire this law firm and you will get honest, caring legal professionals that will right a wrong-not cause the wrong.” – Mary Heneghan
“I hired Peter to represent my co-directors and me in a breach of fiduciary duty dispute with a co-owner. Peter and his partner Bill joined our trial team just prior to trial and helped us obtain a complete victory at trial. Peter had an uncanny ability to focus on what was important to succeed at trial. Peter was well prepared, organized and thoughtful.” – Oliver Nicklin
